Monomials
Find the coefficient, the literal part and the degree of the following monomials:
- $\dfrac{1}{3}x^4y$
- $7xyz$
- $3x^2y^3z^5$
- $3xz^4h\cdot2$
We must calculate the value of the coefficients and of the degrees. The variables and their exponents are the literal part. Thus, the coefficients and the degrees have to be calculated in the following way:
$\dfrac{1}{3}, \ $ $4+1=5$
$7, \ $ $1+1+1=3$
$3, \ $ $2+3+5=10$
$3\cdot2=6, \ $ $1+4+1=6$
The coefficient, the literal part and the degree are respectively:
- $\dfrac{1}{3}$, $x^4y$, $5$
- $7$, $xyz$, $3$
- $3$, $x^2y^3z^5$, $10$
- $6$, $xz^4h$, $6$
