Pyramid and truncated Pyramid

The pyramids are polyhedrons which base is any polygon and which side faces are triangles with a common vertex, which is the vertex of the pyramid. The main elements of a pyramid are:

• The height of the pyramid is the segment perpendicular to the base to the vertex.

• The apothem of the pyramid is the height of any of its side faces.

• The edges of the base are called basic edges, and those that meet in the apex, side edges.

Truncated Pyramid

It is the geometric body that results from having cut a pyramid with a plane parallel to the base. Its main elements are:

• The section determined by the cut is the lower base.
• The side faces are isosceles trapezes.
• The apothems are the heights of the isosceles trapezes.
• The height is the distance between the bases.
• Absent pyramid is the part of the pyramid determined by the lower base and the vertex.
